WE’RE BACK

Well, we made it back to the Bay Area with only a few minor issues with the Cord…..some vapor lock problems in the Rockies at higher altitudes. I used an old trick have have used before in similar situations which works well. Take a hand towel and soak in water and wrap around the carburetor ……keeps the engine heat away preventing the vapor lock problem. Once we got to lower altitudes, all was well again.

I thought I’d share some pics from the road to give you an idea of some of the terrain we covered…..a lot of changing scenery as you travel across the country.

All in all, a great road trip……cant wait for the next one!!!!The endless road ahead

ACD Auburn Weekend

What a great weekend in Auburn !!!! Auburn is a small town of around 10 to 15 thousand people that really get behind this yearly Auburn, Cord and Duesenburg event. The downtown streets are blocked off for the Auburns, Cords and Duesenberg’s participating in the event as well as around 400 to 500 additional cars of other manufacturers……all in all an outstanding on the street car show.

Friday night I was leaving the street party around 1:00AM, and it was still in full swing. A group of 70 to 80 year old’s yelled out “why are you leaving so early, we’re just getting started”!! When a group of seniors calls you out as a wimp, you know you’re off your game. However, since I was one of the show judges I had to be semi functional for a 7:00 AM meeting on the show field the next morning, so I lowered my head, gave an “I’m a loser wave” to the senior rave team and left in defeat to get some sleep….

Things went great on Sat and we actually won 2 awards….longest distance driven and Josh Malks, the car owner, won the Mayors award! There was a field of outstanding cars, some of which I will try to post below.

We left Auburn Sunday early afternoon to return to California and are currently in Fairbury, NE for the night….car running great with no problems to date…knock on wood!! Hope to make Colorado tomorrow…..

As a sideline comment, the FFC’s ( Foster Farm Chickens) have logged over 12,000 road miles in an antique car in 2013….and we’re still going.

Stay tuned for more…..
